I am just wondering which rip Seiko has seen works best with there printer.
I like flexisign pro because its just way to easy to use. Dislike Onyx.. to difficult... written for the dos days of programming. Haven't tried wasatch or amibles photoprint yet. But my guess is they must have one that outperforms the others.
My company distributes ONYX and scanvec products (among other things) and I using ProdHouse, PhotoPrintDX, PhotoPrint ServerPro, FlexiSign with SII...
Onyx Prodhouse is the best thing if you have right profiles...,
PhotoPrint (server pro) is also great solution because better built-in profiles, much more control like heaters temp, feed, smoothing, easy draft/normal/HQ/HD selection, fast rotating (unlike onyx)
We have been using Poster Print from ERGO Soft for 8 years, very simple and user friendly, you can down load a deme at ergosoft .ch (they are in switzerland) have a US sales office.
Hello everyone! I'm a very-near-future owner of 64s, but i'm still in two minds over the choice of RIP. Isn't it ironic that the choice of RIP is more difficult and less varied than the choice of printers? ;) My 64s is going to be shipped with either Scanvec or Caldera. I could buy EFI or Onyx, too. The question is for You all - have You tried any two or three of them with 64s during demos and presentations? Maybe you have both or more and you have experience with quirks and problems it might encounter?
I like both Caldera and Scanvec, i worked a lot with Scanvec, only once with Caldera. The Caldera has the advantage of the best stability due to the Linux based system. Has a lot of options and is easy to use. On the other hand Scanvec is even simpler, the support seems great, they worked me around some quirks i found... I just don't know.
If anyone has any unbiased and thorough opinion, let me know. If you use Caldera, let me know too.
We got Onyx when we bought the printer thinking it was the superior RIP. It is - except for one very important factor. The speed of Onyx is much, much slower than Scanvec PhotoPrint Server (which we had been using for our Encad printers). I repeatedly called Onyx to see if they had a solution to get the Onyx software to print at a speed similar to Scanvec to no avail. They said that it was slow because the quality is better. While I think the profiles are a little better the Scanvec software seems to work better for us. We bought the printer because it is fast and didn't want to be held back by the speed of the RIP.
I can honestly say, and my folks at the company who operate the machines can confirm - Caldera is the best rip we had so far. We regret that it does not support our other machines cuz we would gladly switch.
