What's obvious (most common) problem of colorpainter / cs6060?

from my experience: air leak

no matter it comes from deformed or displaced "o"ring in ink tube on head or not properly sealed head by capper, it results with same thing - nozzle lost - in on the end with banding...

deformed or displaced "o"ring in ink tube on head gives you banding in the middle of print, but not properly sealed head by capper can result with much expensive thing - lost of nozzles - head.

what do you think what is the most common problem?

the air leak problem should have been solved with the newer style of heads. they do away with the hard tube-like chimney and replaced it with a rubber tubing on a steel formed nozzle.

heads would still be the most common part we worry about. most of the time they are pretty stable, but it still doesn't take much to kill them, irrelevant of if you're doing the daily maintenance.

the seikos seems to work well in perfect conditions of humidity ratio in the air and temperatures, not too hot, not too cold or you get banding.
An everydays maintenance is needed, don't know if it's a problem.

well - first of all let me tell you - Seiko is the least problematic machine i have ever encountered so far... come on guys, i have a chinese superwide solvent machine - looks like from medieval times and gives problems every day for two years. mutoh toucan - same thing - sometimes it's awesome, but sometimes it's an awesome pain in the butt ;) much more ink is wasted with toucan, problems with pumps going dead, filters breaking, etc etc... encad - f**k! oh geez... this is the worst nightmare - i mean the novajet 1000i. it's ok when it's always on and in perfectly stable temperature/humidity conditions, but the cartridges just die like hell and many ink bottles have burned chips out of the box... plus it's sooo plasticky.

seiko has only one major problem - it applies to my seiko - and i hope it gets fixed soon - the flat cables from the mainboard to the carriage board. already one went dead from too much printing ;) and now another one need exchange.

Joshie,

How many meters have you run on the Seiko? I'm starting to hear some cable "dragging". Sound familiar to you?

woudl these be the carriage cables, as these are the only ones which could possibly drag? not sure why you are hearing this, because they should be clipped to the catepillar chain. easiest way is to remove the top cover and watch the thing print. this gives you a view of everything. might just be dirt or a dodgy x motor

seiko cleared that air leak problem that i mentioned!

they found simple but sufficient solution for that problem.

on new heads "winding" (on withch you screw ink tube) is not placed directly on head. it's placed on tube which is coming from head. so when carriage is moving (printer printing) swing of tubes is not deforming "o"ring because it's swingin along with tubes...

mybe i didn't explain that right (my english is bad) but i belive that new head design cleared that problem that i talked about....

i agree. the "newer" design of heads make the air leak problem virtually redundant. saying that you still need to ensure that the heads cap correctly as this returns the same fault.
