H- Adjust comparison

I posted an image of an h-adj test for my heads.  I have some spraying on black and it's certainly not very solid.  Magenta and Cyan also have small bands in them.  I'm wondering if other users tests looks similar?  We really have to stay on top of it to keep all heads firing and minimize nozzle drop outs.

You can the images here: http://www.speedgraphics.net/h-adj.htm

Thanks!

Michael

Well it seems quite ok to me at the first sight, but i think some thorough cleaning of the black head should do the job. If it was my machine and cleaning didn't help, i'd take a lint-free cloth and damp it with capping fluid or something and wipe the black head gently from below.

But indeed, the little bands in the M and C heads are weird. I don't think i have those. Have they always been there since you bought the machine or is it just now?

I think they have been there from the start- calgraph never mentions anything about them not being right- but I just wanted to see what others are getting.  How do you wipe the head?  I tried doing that at the wiper station and could barely get the lint free swab in there.  Thanks Joshie.

Yeah, the only possiblity is doing that in a wiper station. I guess unscrewing the side panel might help a bit, i don't remember now precisely. I know i did it when the black head got some fluff on the nozzle plate after we printed a lot of banner which was cut by us from a wider roll (so it had one side full of fluff, because we didn't have a hot knife or anything).

But also, i remember that Nigel and someone else here mentioned that there is a special cap that you can fill with some solvent and put under the heads to dissolve any stuck jets etc. Don't know the details of it yet (nobody showed photos here yet), i'm hoping the guys would be as kind as to say something about it. It was meant to solve all problems with heads (clogged nozzles).

looks fine to me too. if you need to soak the heads get the "head cleaning sheet" which you shoul dbe able to order from your seiko rep.

I have had the 100s since around October of 2005. It has always had issues, this being one of them.

Banding can be an issue with the feed as well as the media meing used. Feed adjustment does help, but you will notice there will be a different amount of banding on the capping side vs the cleaning station side.

There is no way to get it out. The feed & takeout system on the 100s needs to be redesigned.

what type of paper feed set-up are you using? have the the latest updates? what media are you using, as at the start they had serious problems on glossy substrates?

the improvements help on glossy substrates, and to be honest the feed does take longer to set up (approx 300mm) but once sorted it runs OK
