Take Up Reel Wind Sensor Time Out Error

Any one wlse having this problem,

doesn't seem to matter how we adj the print we get the error and the printer stops printing.

I know there is 13 second rule, but after countless hours watching the takeup it seems that it up does not operate the same length of time each time it is triggered

This was happening to me too. What had happened was the sensor had gotten knocked out of alignment. The metal piece that holds the mirror was bent slightly down. It wouldn't always work and would lead to time out errors like you're getting. Check to see if your sensor is bent.

have you tried just snapping the caliper closed, as you would set it in tension mode?

We have this problem when the roll becomes too heavy (usually a full roll of banner, or a heavy vinyl such as MPI1005 (non EZ). It becomes too heavy for the winder to roll up.

Is there a setting on the printer that tells it we are using the tension take up mode?

i tried fliping the mirror up and for a time out error.

Hello you can change between tension and slack in the entry menu: Entry> winder mode> tension or slack.

seen something similar to this with the take up.

firstly the rip should go into a pause mode cos the winder time out suspends the scsi port. when the fault is cleared the port opens and printing continues..

secondly to increase the tension on the take-up you can increase the torque setting inside the motor casing. this does mean removing the take-up case and opening it up. the torque motor has a winding gauge where you can see 1, 2 or 3 lines. adjust the winder until you see all the lines for the maximum torque setting.
