Banding in Standard Mode

I am having trouble printing in standard mode without banding. I do all the cleaning and the service testcleans and even if the test come back clean the print only seems to be about band free about the first 6'. The print is usually a 8'x4' full coverage or a nest covering the same area. I have tried unidirectional too. The only way I can half way feel safe the image will not band on my prints I run when I leave at night is in High Quality mode. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
SD

1. You should try to first reduce the amount of heat. That seemed to work well for us.
2. Call Seiko and have them walk you through changing the voltage on the heads. This makes a difference as well.
3. I'm sure it's not the feed adjust but make sure it isn't.

This is a pretty common problem but I think these are the main issues.

I recommend you call Seiko and let them know you are having issues. They are getting pretty good at walking you through the issues.

I do however have aquestion about the heater issue.
Its dark bands and tat is because it is to hot and the ink flows into one another to much and white meaining to cold. What happens is for about the first 6ft of a run it is great then it starts banding and usually white. I will call Seiko on the voltage issue and I check the stepper. Thanks again for the help.

first you need to work out what is causing the banding as there are a number of possibilities.

is a head dropping out i.e. is your colour changing when the banding occurs? then look at temps on the 3 heaters. front/print should not be higher than 40, and the rear you can go as high as you want.

is the banding one of either light or dark bands? if so then the media feed may require tweaking.

if the bands are only one side, then then the media is not loaded straight.

the bands being white or dark relate to the amount of feed the printer moves the media from pass to pass. white bands means it's moving to much (hence the passes not lining up) and dark means to little (overlapping passes)

Well my banding seemed to be a combination of things and they are still working on it. It seems the
carriage bearings might be going out. Another thing is the little pin "C" clamp on the "Flange" feeder roller had dissapeared or arrived without one so there was no tension on the left flange causing tracking problems that increased as time went on. Also there is a weight limit of media of 75 lbs. on the feeder sider for rolls. I have media that weighs about max 70 lbs. and this tends to bowe in the media holders "flanges" causing tracking issues. However i have found a temporary fix for the banding in stanadard mode. I changed the profile from Averies Calendar Vinyl to a Rexam paper profile and set the printer to paper profile. This gets me at least 20 ft of no banding in standard mode before cleaning. I know its not a true fix but Hey, at least it gets me by till they get back here.
Thanks everyone for your help.
