Just received our HP9000

Our printer arrived the other day, and was setup last night..... I must say, wow. Right out of the box without profiling the medias it even printed fantastic. When we did profile the media the quality was outstanding. No need to judge the quality of the prints by standing 5ft-10ft away, you can sit right on top of them and look at the quality. Ink...well yeah its expensive, but talk to your dealer, if you do a lot of volume they will most likely take care of you when it comes to pricing.

Hi!
How is your new printer doing?

Is there any difference compared to Seiko Colorpainter64?
Any improvements?

I've been through a lot of trouble with my Seiko, so I'm trying to know if exchanging it for the new HP9000 would solve it.

Thank you.

During 10 months working almost trouble free.

This Seiko tech once came to my shop and said he had to replace "o" rings because they were deforming. He did, and next day I started having problems. All six heads  get clogged after printing a few inches.

2 months and 4 techs have passed though and I still cannot print the quality I used to.

Techs have tried almost everything, replaced all "o" rings again, replaced ink pumps, cables, flat connectors, etc.

They don't know what's going on.

I've heard a lot of people have minor problems, but problems anyway. Techs say the printer need a lot of care, and a lot of things can make you have problems.

They offered to replace the printer with the new HP9000. I want to know if these "minor issues" have been solved in this printer.

if this all happened after replacing "o" rings then definitely problem should be in that part - air leak.

but. he could make mistake while doing that. like: he didn't lower capping station, and while screwing and unscrewing tubes he was pushing head carriage (small movements) and in that way hurt heads or most likely deformed capers.

did they checked caper. if caper is deformed (or small rubber joint cups beneath caper) you can't get perfect sealing of head, which means not good vacuum, which automatically means not good cleaning of heads...

from what I see and know when you make ink charge or cleaning or fill cap, pumps that are placed beneath capping station are sucking ink. for good sucking (ink flow) you need good sealing of head (ink circle closed), because if there is a small air leak, pumps cannot suck ink through head, which means not good cleaning...

did they changed your wiping unit. after 10-12 months of printing (of course it depends on how much you print) blades are definitely deformed and sponge on which blades are cleaning (were you pure wipe fluid) has to be full of dried or almost dried ink, which means that blades want do their job properly - cleaning surface of head...

this all can make place for ink drying on surface - which means nozzle clogging...

but again I would stick to most possible air leak from begging...

as you see reasons can be many...

electronic failure is smallest possibility...

but if your machine worked fine you should find cause of your problems...

but new machine is always new machine...

but... about hp9000:

machine is perfect - this is definitely colorpainter with all improvements...

but, look at the price of ink - it's like seiko had it almost 2 years ago. and knowing hp they want lower their prices very quickly....

cant praise this machine enough. flawless prints. Its everything we never had in our color painter with the support that seiko never could provide to us. We were promised the world by Seiko techs and reps, yet no matter how many profiles we make and how many times the heads are replaced and adjusted...banding banding banding, clogged heads, drying issues. Same enviroment and materials used on our HP9000, no problems. Even worked out a deal with our vendors to get us the ink at a much more affordable rate because of the quantity we buy in.
