Lt. Cyan ink problem

There's a batch of the light cyan ink that clog the head. Some dealers told me that we can just put the new ink in and do a few head cleaning (with the ink itself) and the problem will be gone. Some dealers told me that we need to use the cleaning kit to flush the old ink out first. Some dealers go further, telling me that we need to change the print head.

Anybody has any experience with this?

I would recommend you call Seiko directly and discuss this with tech support.

Try a Strong Cleaning a couple of times, if it doesn't work a Fill Cap an a Normal Cleaning.

I'm having a similar problem with the black ink, it shows some horizontal lines in the first pass but then it gets covered in the second pass.  As it is working I didn't make a strong cleaning, I'm trying not to do cleanings as it spends a lot of ink.

There is some new advice on the Yahoo board. It includes defective ink lot numbers and advice on how to proceed.

I got a Light Cyan from lot # 4315 and I called the dealer and he will change it. He already knew about this problem. I was lucky not to put this on the printer.

Below is the copy of the msg from yahoo forum:

There is problem in Light Cyan ink.
If you used Lot No #4517,#4531, #4315 of Light Cyan Inks, your LC Print head had many missing nozzle and Deflection problem.
Please check your Lot Numbers of LC Inks.
And ask to replace Printhead.
Also you have above inks, please return them to Seiko or his distributor.

Bye, MJunior

I too had gotten some of the flawed lt cyan ink..........had to get the head replaced because the multiple clogged nozzles were just not opening back up.............

also had the black head develope many nozzles that were clogged........but it had to get to the point of an full 1/8th inch wide patch of clogged nozzles to see the banding appear in the prints............so that head was also replaced........

i have had my head voltages adjusted from the reccomended label on the heads.........has anybody else had this done on their seiko to help smooth out some head drop outs in the lt cyan head?.............it seems to be working with my machine after the repairs from the ink problem.....................
