Purchase machine

I am thinking about purchasing the colorpainter over the Roland Eco-solvent and I have two concerns: (1) Is the service really as bad as I hear, and parts hard to replace? (2) Is the solvent ink more aggressive the the JV3, which I use with the third party ink, magaink? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!:confused

Hi Verdana I will be better able to  answer that question after the printer is installed correctly. It has only been 40 days and still not performing.(waitng for head replacement)

Our Colorpainter was installed 1 week ago and has been flawless since day 1.  Granted, its only been a week, but the machine has FAR surpassed my expectations.  I'm sure it probably helps that we do our own profiling, but even the 'canned' profiles seem pretty decent.

I have certainly gone through some bad experiences with my Seiko........stumbling has occured on the support/service end...........but they are getting better every day it seems............remember this is a rather new machine and company venture(the true solvent printer market) for Seiko..........and the service support company are using expert techs with years of experience and training.........just not with this printer...........it is new.......to everybody.....

I love my seiko for the speed and output......not the service contract.......

so answer your  queries.....

(1) depends on who you ask and on what day.....

(2) compared to how the vinyls would react after printing with the inks i used in my arizona, i would say they have a bit more of a chemical bite to them...the vinyls really seem to be attacked by the inks even to the point that an unlaminated controltac is too plyable for application by a customer......and i always thought of the arizona 3rd party inks as pretty similar to the JV3's........
