I've got a problem with my magenta printhead on the Seiko Colorpainter 64S. I've attached an scanned image of the problem. There are lots of nozzles missing. Cleaning didnt help, did a fill-cap overnight but the problem remains. How to fix this problem?
you need to verify whether it's the actual head or something causing the head to print that way. it looks too uniform to be a faulty head or nozzles.
the easiest way is to swap this head over with a known good one. don't worry about the colours mixing, as the clean after you've installed it turns them basically into generic heads. make sure you swap the voltage settings as well, and then do a test print.
if your good head now becomes bad, then it's an electric fault, possibly carriage cable, boards etc. if it stays the same i.e. the good head stays good, then it's the head that needs replacing.
thanks for the reply. I had a look to change the heads & cables but it is way to complex for me to do myself. I've contacted a service provider that will come and fix the problem hopefully.
Mine just started doing the same today. can't tell whether it is head faliure or other. Did cap soak and several other tricks ,but no change. Please keep us updated as to what the Tech finds.
It can be two problems. 1) the mag. capping doesn't work properly. 2) there is a air leak in the mag. tubing. And most likely the leak is where where the tobing makes a corner. In the middle of the printer. It's the tubing between the ink subtanks and the dampers.
I had the same problem with magenta/cyan/yellow all the colours at the right side. Replacing the tubing is not easy. I bought it here http://www.digiprint-supplies.com/ But a tech replaced it. Seiko Tube Main assy - SI-103586-50 1,490 quite expensive but the only working solution because other tubing are not aire tight.
