Printing on mesh w/out liner

Guys,
I have some mesh banner that I need to print for a client without a liner! How am I supposed to print on the mesh without making a mess on my printer. I know the Seiko guy said they sell a liner that works with the other media feed mechanism, but I called Seiko and they had know idea what I was talking about.

not sure why seiko do not know about this as i think it's one of their options on the 100s. it's just a full width mesh liner to run under the unbacked mesh to prevent the ink getting onto the bed.

I am going to investigate it further next week, my local Seiko distributor is checking with the regional rep this week to see what Seiko had in mind. I'm also going to ask alot of questions at the sign show this Friday in Atlantic City, NJ.

good call. try and find out about all the options and how they are all progressing. this being the dual roll, mesh liner, duplex printing. we need more info, and seiko are not always very forthcoming, so if you're at a trade show and you're face-to-face, nobody can get away.

feedback would be great

Well........Just got back home from the tradeshow in Atlantic City,New Jersey and unfortunately there was NO Seiko representative. There were alot of Seiko 64S machines at the show and one 100S machine. I knew more about the machines than some of the dealers, so getting any kind of reliable answers to our questions would have been a waste of time! I will call Seiko next week and get answers, If you guys have specific questions e-mail them to me or post a reply and i will find out the deal from Seiko Direct! I promise.

From what I understand those features are in beta testing right now with a couple of poeple in the field.  I was told once it's been finalized, I would get those capabilities- mesh w/o backer, side by side roll printing, and double sided banner printing.- think that was it.

Will do! I got the Seiko part# for the mesh and it's about $350 US. I dont think that i'll be buying that anytime soon! As for the other stuff i'm going to call Seiko tomorrow to find out what's going on with all the "Options" that were never figured out! How do you sell any option or function without having it figured out????

Did you get your mesh question answered? BTW Seiko rep was at Atlantic City Show, I spoke with him for over an hour.

Yes, I found that out later that they were walking around! I did'nt see them, but when I called them they told me there were 2 Seiko reps floating around the show but no booth to actually corner them. BTW what was the reps name that you spoke with????? There was plenty of guys selling Seiko, but no Seiko booth.

I believe this is outlined in the manual.  When I ordered my printer I also purchased the upgrade kit that allows this funtionality.  I have several parts that I have not installed (yes, it is a user install...) that allows for this functionality- as well as double sided banners and side by side roll printing- I have not had the opportunty (or business) to investigate further.  But check in the manual.

We use Sonnet banner mesh from Fellers and we used UltraFlex when Sonnet was out of stock...and let me tell you the mess that stuff made....even with their liner...musta used 1/4 bottle of wiping fluid to clean the machine up.

I use Ultraflex Stripmesh W/Backer and have never had a problem! Prints beautifully and never any ink on the printer platen! I think Fellers sells this material as well, Good Luck!

yep, seen this option being used last week at one company. no problem there. but that also might be the case of RIP used and the ink limits - that backing material does seem to be able to drip through, but if you print 360dpi (which you should print with on mesh, no use running 4 pass there) and you regulate your max ink limit to something reasonable (i suggest not much gcr - the black ink is good enough to cover up the material alone) then it should have no problems.
