Ghost in the machine?

Hi from Germany!
Has anyone experienced such ghost pictures in prints on the CP64S like me?
I´m using PosterPrint 11 by ErgoSoft on a Win2000-Platform-PC.

They happen much more often on machine startup in the morning. Then after restarting the print (3-4 times) the effect is mostly gone.
Is it an internal problem (cable etc.) or has it something to do with the voltage or scsi?
I´ve got no idea.

Greetings

So that is exactly the same what i have.

Did you try lowering the transfer rate of your SCSI card from 160 to the recommended 40? It seems to have helped a little in our case. I will check today if it is still true.

Can you tell us more about the RIP and SCSI card that you are using?

Hi and thanks for answering!
I´m using the Adaptec 29160 card @ 40MBits (never changed that...) in a Win2000 system/AMD 3000/64/1GB RAM with the PosterPrint-RIP by Ergosoft, a Swiss brand.

A funny thing is the changing of the color of the ghost stripes from cyan to black to yellow to.... with every new print. Sometimes there are even two or three colors in the print. Happens mostly at the beginning of the print and only in 4-pass-mode (never showed up in 8-pass-mode!?!).
I´m using the Seiko now since Jan 2005, but the ghost prints first started app. half a year ago (very seldom at first (1 print a week), then more and more often til now (almost every print)). Two or three months ago i read a post about broken or bad flat cable inside the printer which caused printing errors similar to mine. Maybe these problems are related????
Unstable voltage: Using a voltage controller didn´t work.

P.S.: Two print heads had been changed til now

Greetings,
digifuzzi

Thanks Fuzzi,

so the problem in our case disappeared now when we changed from 160 to 40, but that doesn't mean that it won't show up again all of a sudden. Tomorrow we are going to have the electronic circuitboard changed (the one that the flat string cables are connected to) - hopefully this will solve it for sure, but i really don't know.

I guess someone will finally have to contact Seiko directly.
